Scott E. Squillace, Esq., AEP®, is a business, tax, and estate planning attorney with over 36 years of experience practicing law. He is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, New York, Washington D.C., and New Hampshire, and was admitted to the Bar in Paris, France as an Avocat. Scott began his practice career as a corporate attorney at Skadden Arps where he assisted in opening its Paris and Moscow offices in the early 1990s. During his time at Skadden, he did significant private and public company corporate and securities work as well as international transactional work from the firm’s New York, D.C., and Hong Kong offices, as well as Paris and Moscow.

Scott has significant business counseling experience as an in-house corporate attorney, first as General Counsel for Levi Strauss & Co.’s European division based in Brussels and later as the first General Counsel for Grand Circle Travel, a privately held Boston-based travel company. He also served as European Counsel for Cabot Corporation in Boston, a NYSE public company. He lived and worked in Europe for 10 years and has traveled and worked extensively throughout Asia, Latin America, and Europe.

As the founder of Squillace & Associates, P.C. – a boutique law firm in Boston’s historic Back Bay – Scott now specializes in estate and tax planning matters including business and philanthropic planning for high net worth individuals and families. His practice includes estate planning needs for international clientele, corporate executives, small business owners, physicians, attorneys, and other professionals. He has a focus on helping same-sex couples and members of the LGBTQ+ community with their unique planning needs and authored Whether to Wed: A Legal and Tax Guide for Gay and Lesbian Couples. Scott was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in 2014 to serve on a Commission to study needs of the LGBTQ+ elder community. Scott was a co-founder and Co-Chair of the Equality Fund, an endowment for the LGBTQ+ Community established at The Boston Foundation. He has been a columnist for Practical Estate Planning and lectures and writes frequently on estate and business planning as well as charitable giving strategies and planning for the LGBTQ+ community.

Scott is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), a Certified Master Trustee by the Independent Trustee Alliance (ITA) and holds the designation of Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) from the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC). He is also a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council (BEPC) from whom he received its Excellence Award in 2020, in recognition of his contributions to the estate planning profession. He currently serves as a Trustee for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (“MCLE”), on the Board of Advisors of Eastern Bank and on the Board of Directors of The Boston Foundation, where he chairs its Audit Committee.

He holds his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University in New York; has studied at the Sorbonne University in Paris and earned his J.D. from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He is married and lives in Boston and Palm Springs, CA, with his husband and their 2 silver labs.
